Poodle Meet-up Groups in the USA

Due to their intelligence, gentle and playful nature, and overall “good vibes,” poodles are popular family pets. If you’re a poodle parent who wants to connect with other poodle owners; or think your poodle could use some fellow poodle friends…there are numerous meet-ups in the U.S. you can join.

One way to find pet meet-ups is by checking the website meetups.com. It can be that simple. Pet parents are really passionate about owning a specific breed or about their love of adopting dogs, so they usually tend to bond well with others who own the same breed.

Here are some active Poodle Meet-ups in America you can check out. It’s time for you and Fido to meet some new friends! Socialization can be just as important for your pet as it is for you.

Poodle Club of America: Did you know there’s an official poodle club? Who knew? There’s a link on their homepage that connects you to poodle meet-ups in your state, but these meet-ups are usually for competition poodles who enter dog shows. Now, to join these exclusive poodle clubs, you and your poodle must meet very specific requirements to even apply.  (For example, your poodle must be pure bread) This is because The Poodle Club of America, and its affiliates in other states, is part of the American Kennel Club (AKC), so, it’s sanctioned and recognized by the AKC. Again, the dogs who are part of this club tend to be competition show dogs from breeders; but if you can get in, it’s a great way to meet other poodle parents, and poodle enthusiasts.

Charlotte, NC: With over 400 members, this  North Carolina-based poodle meet-up welcomes standard poodle and mixed breed poodle parents. It’s a pooch playgroup thar meets at least once a month; at private homes, indoor and outdoor boarding facilities, and more. They do tend to avoid meeting at dog parks only because kids aren’t allowed there. They’ve already lined up their 2023 meetup locations at places such as Lucky Dog Bark and Brew.

Emeryville, CA: This active poodle meet-up group posts their events on meetup.com; one upcoming poodle meet-ups will be held at Berkeley Marina. The online group has more than 140 members and most members own standard poodles.

Boulder, CO: With about 100 members, this poodle meet-up group in Colorado hasn’t been as active online recently, but hopefully will get some meetings going again in 2023. Meetings are held at parks and pet-friendly cafes.

Bellingham, WA has a smaller group of poodle pet owners, but seems like they have frequent meet-ups, which is great. It’s so easy for these groups to fade out, so seeing them active is encouraging. As the site points out, standard poodles are a very special breed; they love playtime. The group seems to mostly meet up at off-leash parks. If you’re a poodle parent in the Bellingham area, swing by the next meeting.

SoCal seems to have a small, new Poodle group that’s been posting on Meetup.com. They even held a Christmas party in the area for local poodles. Join in and check out future pup events if you live in the area with your pooch. Seem like the toy poodle “pawrent” who operates these meet-up events is active on Instagram, too.
