Pembroke Corgis are known as “enchanted” dogs

This is on magical Corgi fact! Folklore says that the fairies and elves of Wales used Corgis as war horses that they rode into battle! According to Facts.com, this idea comes from the fleshy part around the hip of Corgis, where the fur is rougher. The area is called “fairy saddles” because fairies allegedly rode them or strapped them up to their carriages. Who knew Corgis were so enchanted? They’re also known to be world-class herding dogs, so it’s no surprise they had a good work ethic even in earlier times.

Rufus the Corgi was an Amazon pioneer and mascot

It is a Corgi fact that the first dog to roam the halls at Amazon when they were a 20-person startup was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Rufus. His owners were the editor-in-chief and the first engineer, a couple who worked at Amazon. According to Amazon’s page about Rufus, he was known for roaming the halls, napping, and playing fetch with tennis balls. Rufus has long since passed, but his legend lives on in the dog-friendly culture well at Amazon.
